Let us come together in celebration of Juneteenth, when, on June 19, 1865, Union Army General Gordon Granger rode into Galveston Texas and informed the enslaved peoples of their emancipation —more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863.
In 2021, President Joe Biden signed a bill into law to officially designate Juneteenth as an American federal holiday and the Korean Friendship Bell was rung for the first time on June 19th in its commemoration.
Join us as we ring the Friendship Bell for Liberty and Justice for All.
