On February 9, 2012, MusicUNTOLD, in partnership with NAACP Long Beach, presented American Ballet Soloist, Misty Copeland for a series of events in San Pedro and Long Beach, California.
The day began with a return visit to Misty’s alma mater, San Pedro High School. She spoke with students about her experience of following her dreams, and putting in the hard work needed to become a premiere dancer. Afterward, she was recognized by area officials.
The next stop was Long Beach Polytechnic High School. Misty was the featured guest for a school wide assembly where she spoke, took questions, and posed for photos with the students.
From there, Misty Copeland presented a Master Class for dancers at California State Long Beach.
The day ended at the place where Misty got her start with her first dance classes, the Boys & Girls Club of San Pedro.
