ONE WOMAN; TWO RACES, JULIETTE FAIRLEY\u2019S ONE WOMAN SHOW,<br \/>\n\u201cMulatto Series\u201d, is two shows in one performance. \u201cMulatto\u2019s Dilemma\u201d chronicles the adventures of a bi-racial woman living in the 1920s and her indecision whether to marry a black man or white man.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Making of a Mulatto\u201d presents issues relevant to interracial marriages and their children by juxtaposing the Jim Crow South in American with the Nazi regime in France. She wrote two shows to give audiences a peek into how having parents of different races influences an adult child\u2019s psychology and perspective on the world. \u201cMany bi-racial people are caught in between two worlds, tormented by allegiances to both the black community and the larger white society. Before the performance, the Long Beach Central Area Association presented Director of Library Services,\u00a0<strong>Glenda Williams<\/strong>, a check for $1,000. President\u00a0<strong>John Malveaux\u00a0<\/strong>said, \u201cI realize the fundraiser will not make a financial impact, but it demonstrates that the community can play a part to financially support our Libraries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Supporting the event, front row and center, were two former and current directors of Library Services <strong>Cardelia Howard, Eleanor Schmidt,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Glenda Williams.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A near capacity audience attentively watched\u00a0<strong>Juliette Fairley\u00a0<\/strong>perform 15 different roles in her one woman-two races show.
