Maestro Dudamel and the LA Phil opened with living African American composer Adolphus Hailstork &#8216;An American Port of Call&#8217;. A contemporary of Mozart, Joseph Bologne\u2014or Chevalier de Saint-Georges, as he called himself\u2014was an outstanding Afro European composer, violin virtuoso, and stellar conductor. Violinist Randall Goosby performed Saint-Georges\u2019 dynamic Ninth Violin Concerto to conclude the 1st half . The 2nd half featured Maestro Dudamel&#8217;s glowing interpretation of Dvo\u0159\u00e1k\u2019s \u201cNew World\u201d Symphony.
