The City of Long Beach Public Libraries are not only a resource for information, they are a venue for education, arts and cultural programming. LBCAA\/MusicUNTOLD presented a theatrical fundraiser,\u00a0MULATTO DILEMMA<\/b><\/a>, Juliette Fairley\u2019s one woman show, October 25, 2009, Found Theater to benefit the Long Beach Public Libraries.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cMany bi-racial people are caught in between two worlds, tormented by allegiances to both the black community and the larger white society.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before the performance, the Long Beach Central Area Association presented Director of Library Services,\u00a0Glenda Williams<\/strong>, a check for $1,000. President\u00a0John Malveaux\u00a0<\/strong>said, \u201cI realize the fundraiser will not make a financial impact, but it demonstrates that the community can play a part to financially support our Libraries.\u201d<\/p>\n

COMMUNITY CINEMA<\/b>, produced by Independent Television Service (ITVS), is a free monthly screening series featuring films from the Emmy Award-winning PBS series\u00a0INDEPENDENT LENS<\/i><\/b>.\u00a0LBCAA\/MusicUNTOLD sponsored\u00a0COMMUNITY CINEMA<\/b>\u00a0at Long Beach Main Library-Main Library Auditorium for the 2010-2011, and 2011-2012 seasons.<\/p>\n
